The crisis rocking the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) may not end anytime soon if information reaching us is anything to go by. On Monday, March 16, 2015, a Federal High Court in Lagos ruled that the election that ushered in Ibinabo Fiberesima into office as AGN president was null and void because it violated an earlier court order, which directed status quo to be maintained. An actor, St Maradona Mikevine, had taken the matter to court seeking the dissolution of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of AGN and the removal of Ibinabo from office as president of the guild. The court ruled in his favour. And since the court ruling, popular actor, Emeka Ike, has reportedly proclaimed himself as president of AGN. At Monday's preliminary hearing on weapons charges, his lawyers planned to argue that the 71-year-old Houston man should be released because he was illegally arrested on those charges and a Los Angeles County warrant accusing him of murdering a female friend. They also contend his arrest was orchestrated to coincide with the last episode of the HBO show about him. William Gibbens and Dick DeGuerin outlined their arguments in court papers filed last week for a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Harry Cantrell on the weapons charges. One charge alleges he had a .38-caliber revolver; previous felony convictions make that illegal. The other charge alleges he had the weapon and illegal drugs: a bit more than 5 ounces of marijuana. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Police in Charlottesville, Virginia, plan to release the findings of an investigation prompted by a Rolling Stone article about an alleged gang rape. The police department has scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. Monday in Charlottesville. A notice posted on the police department's website says the department won't answer any questions prior to the news conference. ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J. (AP) — Suspended NBC News anchor Brian Williams attended a fundraiser and donated $50,000 in a bid to keep his Catholic high school in New Jersey from closing. Mater Dei Prep announced in February it will close in June because of financial problems unless it can raise $1 million. Williams and his wife attended Saturday night's Save the Seraphs Gala in Atlantic Highlands. MESA, Ariz. (AP) — A gunman killed one person and wounded five others Wednesday in a rampage that included a motel shooting, a carjacking and a home invasion and ended with his arrest at a nearby apartment in suburban Phoenix. The suspect was taken into custody after officers spotted him on an apartment balcony and shocked him with a stun gun. Numerous officers led the handcuffed man to a truck parked outside an apartment complex. Police later identified the man as Ryan Giroux, a 41-year-old ex-convict who has served three stints in state prison since 1994. A mug shot from the Arizona Department of Corrections shows him with several face and neck tattoos, including the word "skinhead" where his eyebrows normally would be. Giroux served prison terms totaling more than eight years for burglary, theft, attempted aggravated assault and a marijuana violation, the Corrections Department said. For some reason, I have always been a fan of the arts. The ability to create something from nothing, the ability to bring to life what was once but only a figment of one’s imagination to me, is to dare to rival the gods, if you believe in them.
