HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN YOU ARE ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attacked victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!! A cardiologist says If everyone who sees this post shares it to 10 people, yo

Scott Stapp's wife: He needs help now before someone gets hurt

Scott Stapp’s estranged wife is trying to get the troubled Creed singer committed against his will to a mental health facility. Jaclyn Stapp and her mother filed legal papers on Wednesday trying to convince a judge to force Scott Stapp into psychiatric treatment. They believe Stapp is delusional and psychotic, and that he poses a danger to himself because he’s allegedly attempting to detox without assistance. As Gossip Cop reported, Stapp shocked the world this week when he released a video in which the onetime wealthy rocker admitted to being homeless and nearly broke after years of alleged theft by the people he trusted. Stapp insisted that he is sober, and blamed his problems on the IRS having a vendetta against him following Stapp’s public criticism of President Obama. But Stapp’s issues may be far worse. Earlier this month, the performer was placed on a three-day psychiatric hold for his erratic and paranoid behavior. His wife and mother-in-law believe he’s still into heavy

Death toll from Ebola outbreak nears 7,000 in West Africa: WHO

DAKAR (Reuters) - The death toll from the worst Ebola outbreak on record has reached nearly 7,000 in West Africa, the World Health Organization said on Saturday. The toll of 6,928 dead showed a leap of just over 1,200 since the WHO released its previous report on Wednesday. The U.N. health agency did not provide any explanation for the abrupt increase, but the figures, published on its website, appeared to include previously unreported deaths. A WHO spokesperson was not immediately available for comment. Just over 16,000 people have been diagnosed with Ebola since the outbreak was confirmed in the forests of remote southeastern Guinea in March, according to the WHO data that covered the three hardest-hit countries. Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia have accounted for all but 15 of the deaths in the outbreak, which has touched five other countries, according to the previous WHO figures. Referee injured and stretchered off court

NEW YORK (AP) — Referee Rick Crawford was doing OK after being stretchered off the court after he was inadvertently struck in the face by Vanderbilt center Damian Jones following the opening tipoff of the consolation game of the Barclays Center Classic on Saturday night. Crawford threw the ball up for the opening tipoff and as Jones came down, it appeared as if his arm struck the 19-year official flush on the face. Crawford immediately fell to the court, and was tended to by trainers and medical professionals for roughly 10 minutes before being stretchered off the court. Crawford told The Associated Press he "felt an elbow hit me across my right eye and then I just went down," following the tipoff. "It was a little scary," Crawford said, who added he did not have concussion symptoms. "I think after the elbow hit my eye, my head hit the floor. I was fully conscious. I was aware of what was going on. So it was a little scary. Just a little knot over my ri

US lawmaker's aide draws ire over first daughter scolding

Washington (AFP) - A US lawmaker's communications director was facing social media calls she be sacked after her Facebook rant about President Barack Obama's daughters prompted widespread anger. Elizabeth Lauten, spokeswoman for Republican Congressman Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, wrote a scathing post to her Facebook account scolding Malia and Sasha Obama, 16 and 13, for looking bored while attending a public event with their father on Wednesday. In the post, since deleted but widely reproduced in screen grabs, Lauten tells the girls to "try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play." The girls stood beside Obama -- looking vaguely bored -- as he issued the annual Thanksgiving turkey "pardon," saving two birds from the dinner table. The underwhelmed expressions of the teenaged sisters sparked mainly amused comment, but Lauten's remarks were notably more caustic. "Then again, your mother and father don't respect thei

Ferguson officer who shot Michael Brown resigns

By ALAN SCHER ZAGIER FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — The Ferguson police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown has resigned, his attorney said Saturday, nearly four months after the confrontation between the white officer and unarmed black 18-year-old that ignited protests in the St. Louis suburb and across the nation. Darren Wilson resigned effective immediately, said his attorney, Neil Bruntrager. He declined further immediate comment. Wilson had been on administrative leave since the Aug. 9 shooting, which promoted several days of tense and at times violent protests. The Brown family attorney, Benjamin Crump, didn't immediately return phone and email messages from The Associated Press. Wilson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he was stepping down out of his "own free will" after the police department told him it had received threats of violence if he remained an employee. "I'm not willing to let someone else get hurt because of me," said Wilson, who had

Breath test to detect pot is being developed at WSU

Melissa Santos A team at Washington State University is working to develop a breath test that could quickly determine whether a driver is under the influence of marijuana. Law enforcement officers already use preliminary breath tests in the field to estimate drivers' blood alcohol content. But no similar portable tool exists to test for marijuana impairment via a breath sample. WSU chemistry Professor Herbert Hill said that existing technologies - including those already used by airport security and customs agents to detect drugs and explosives - can be repurposed to test breath for THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana. Hill said he and WSU doctoral student Jessica Tufariello are working on a handheld device that uses a technique called ion mobility spectrometry to detect THC in someone's breath. Right now, officers and prosecutors rely on blood tests to determine how much active THC is present in a driver's blood. Those test results aren't immediate

Ruling on Rice marks unusual NFL about-face

Sam Farmer LOS ANGELES—The NFL suffered a rare setback Friday when its far-reaching and high-profile suspension of Ray Rice was overturned, allowing the running back to return to the league immediately — if anyone will take him. The league, which seldom has to backtrack on disciplinary decisions, agreed to reinstate Rice after arbitrator Barbara Jones, a former U.S. District Court judge, ruled the former Baltimore Ravens star had been penalized twice for knocking out his fiancee in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino. Initially, Rice was suspended for two games, but when a second, more graphic, video of the incident was made public, the suspension was made indefinite. It was interpreted as a way for Commissioner Roger Goodell to demonstrate how serious the league was on inappropriate personal conduct. Jones disagreed with the NFL's argument that the second video amounted to new evidence and was sufficient grounds for a new, tougher penalty. "Because Rice did not

SNAKES FROM STELLA ODUAH’S UNDEVELOPED PROPERTIES INVADE FELIX DUKER’S HOUSE [PICTURES]

If urgent steps are not taken by the Lagos State government, dangers may be let loose in an area in Lekki, a choice area of the aquatic state. This is because a property believed to be owned by former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, in the area has reportedly become a haven of dangerous animals like snakes. Within a month, top Nollywood producer, Fidelis Duker, who has a property in the area, has had the cause to his three dogs to a vet doctor for medical attention. It was gathered that the dogs had fierce battle with three cobras that allegedly came from Oduah’s abandoned property raring the snakes. Duker went to his social media to narrate his ordeal. According to him, the snakes came from an empty land beside his house at Lekki, which belongs to former minister. He posted, “Another Cobra killed in one month by my 3 dogs.......God I thank you for protecting my household.”    He was advised by his friends to ensure he clears the environment or relocate from the area to a

Voters Will Turn on the GOP for Washington Gridlock

Peter Fenn There are three reasons that the Republicans pursue gridlock: ideological purity, hatred of President Barack Obama and because it helps them win elections. The first two they may be able to get over, but not the third. Republicans discovered in 2010 that by opposing anything and everything of any consequence that Obama proposed, gridlock would ensue and the public’s anger and cynicism toward Washington would grow. Rallying around the tea party’s themes and the deep economic frustrations from the near depression, they swept out incumbent Democrats by the score. Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell made it known that his number one goal was the defeat of Obama in 2012. That did not work out so well, but the Republicans quickly pivoted to 2014, where there was clearly fertile ground to elect more of their party. Part and parcel of this strategy was to not pass any meaningful legislation on immigration reform, job creation, education, tax reform or to improve Americ

New Kim on the Block: The Rise of Kim Jong Un’s Little Sister

Emily Rauhala At last, a North Korea rumor proves true: All year, Korea-watchers have been buzzing about the rise of Kim Jong Un's little sister, Kim Yo Jong. She popped up at her father Kim Jong Il's December 2011 funeral, then reappeared next to her brother on election day in March of this year. (Yes, North Korea has elections, of sorts.) Experts speculated that her presence at a high-profile political event signaled that she was on the rise within the regime but, as with many things in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), as it is officially called, the theory was just that — until now. On Thursday, Nov. 26, in an otherwise humdrum account of Kim Jong Un's visit to a cartoon studio, state media listed Kim Yo Jong as "vice department director" in the powerful Central Committee of the ruling Worker's Party. In March, when she was pictured beside her brother on polling day, she was identified only as a "senior official." Though

Autopsy suggests beheading victim fought back

OKLAHOMA CITY — An autopsy shows the woman who was beheaded at an Oklahoma food-processing plant apparently tried to fight off her attacker, who had a serrated cooking knife. Fifty-four-year-old Colleen Hufford was killed in the Sept. 25 attack at Vaughan Foods in Moore. The autopsy released Wednesday says she died of decapitation resulting from sharp-force trauma to her neck. The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/1HGS2BP ) that the autopsy found defensive injuries to both hands and her right arm. The weapon was a cooking knife with a blade about 8 inches long and 1 ½ inches wide. Prosecutors have charged 30-year-old Alton Nolen with first-degree murder in the case and say they will seek the death penalty. Police say Nolen attacked Hufford after learning he'd been suspended from his job at the plant. ___ Information from: The Oklahoman, http://www.newsok.com MSN NEWS

E-cigarettes contain 10 times amount of carcinogens: Japan research

Agence France E-cigarettes contain 10 times the level of cancer-causing agents as regular tobacco, Japanese scientists said Thursday, the latest blow to an invention once heralded as less harmful than smoking. The electronic devices -- increasingly popular around the world, particularly among young people -- function by heating flavoured liquid, which often contains nicotine, into a vapour that is inhaled, much like traditional cigarettes but without the smoke. Researchers commissioned by Japan's Health Ministry found carcinogens such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in vapour produced by several types of e-cigarette liquid, a health ministry official told AFP. Formaldehyde -- a substance found in building materials and embalming fluids -- was present at much higher levels than carcinogens found in the smoke from regular cigarettes, the official said. "In one brand of e-cigarette the team found more than 10 times the level of carcinogens contained in one regular ci
