Kaymu and AIH Emerge Winners at the Online Retail Awards in London

African Internet Holding (AIH) and one of its startups, the leading online marketplace Kaymu, have won the “E-Commerce Company of the Year” and “Department Store” awards of commendation respectively at the Online Retail Awards in London on September 16th. Kaymu was also nominated in the “Small Size Online Retailer of the Year” category.

The Online Retail Awards are independent business awards that celebrate the best online retailers of any size anywhere in the world. Former winners at these awards include top brands such as Virgin Atlantic, Debenhams, Barclays Pingit and Vodafone UK.

Kaymu is an online shopping community that connects buyers and sellers so they can benefit from the largest choice of products at the best prices in their country. It is currently active in more than 25 countries across Africa and Asia.

Another of AIH’s nine companies, the online retailer Jumia, was nominated alongside Kaymu in the Department Store and Small Size Online Retailer Site of the Year categories. This follows wins for the company at the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria and Beacon of ICT Awards earlier this year.

Elias Schulze, CEO for Kaymu Africa, is thrilled to win this award: “It’s great that an African company is recognised by the industry. We have worked hard to grow fast in multiple emerging markets and we’re proud to share this award with our fantastic team.”
