How Buhari's Endorsement Scatters Christian Group

The reported endorsement of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari for the March 28 presidential election by a Christian group in the North on Thursday caused a rift.

Nigerian Pilot gathered that some pastors from the North tricked their unsuspecting colleagues into a meeting at the International Conference Centre, Abuja to endorse Buhari, but the plan took a different turn in the camp of the organisers as some of the invited pastors complained that they were not told that the forum was called to endorse Buhari and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

It was gathered that the group, which identified itself as Northern Christian Leaders Eagle-Eye Forum, spearheaded the meeting, where Buhari and Osinbajo were in attendance.

Some of the Christian leaders, who publicly protested the action of the patrons of the group, alleged that they were deceived into attending the meeting, adding that the organisers told them that the meeting was put in place to enable the clergymen take up Buhari on some topical issues.

The tricked pastors lamented that it turned out to be total declaration of support for Buhari, a development that led to some of the aggrieved clergymen storming out of the meeting venue while some stayed till the end.

Some of the pastors reportedly expressed shock when contrary to the organisers’ promise to give each of them either N50, 000 or N100, 000 pending on their locations and distance, but the money released by a governor who bankrolled the meeting, was between N3,000 and N5,000.

Some of the pastors, however, denied that the money given to them was not bribe but welfare package and insisted on collecting it.

Jouleconcept's correspondent, Mr Juwah Awele covered the story and gave a report in form of an article about the occurrence. This can be read below: “There is fire in house 2! There were children locked inside the house…” those were the words of my elderly neighbour, Mrs A, returning from the scene of some ongoing tragedy. Immediately, my mother went for all our official documents she always keeps in a ready to go bag while, my father, brother and I set off in the direction of the blaze. On getting to the front of the close, T Close, we observed the residents of the first few houses on the left hastily withdrawing their belongings from their homes; stuffing generators, plasma TVs, gas cylinders and the works into the back seat of their cars. Some had already driven their cars away! Immediately, we realised the fire was coming from the next cl
