Fans have wondered why record labels and artistes now find it very difficult to work together for a long time like it used to be before now. Nowadays, artistes leave their music labels to float theirs.
Some of these artistes have complained of leaving their labels because of being neglected for another artiste in the label or poor management.
On the part of labels, artistes leave because of greediness.
In 2011, Mo’Hits Records, which boasted of talents like Don Jazzy, D’Banj, Wande Coal, Dr Sid and others. The label packed up when it was at its peak and this surprised most of their fans.
But one member of the defunct group, Wande Coal, explained in one of his songs that he was a slave under Mo’Hits.
In an analysis of his lyrics in his song, ‘Aye Dun’ featuring Skuki, which was carried out by E24-7 Magazine, Wande Coal sings, “I remember/back in the days/WC/I remember when I was in the streets/tryna hustle just to get this dough/I remember I be steady making hits/for the streets/before I got signed to the Mo/MO o/I remember that was only a phase/of being a slave/but now look at me, CEO/that’s my name/Black Diamond be my team/see as we dey gbadun (enjoy) this life…”
Though the singer did not mention the full name which of ‘Mo’hits’, but the ‘Mo o’ was dragged in his same signature line as when he was with the label.
It is also being reported that the singer feels that his career was not given the most attention it needed, as he was only able to release just an album while he was with the label for six years.
