Super Eagles out of contract coach, Stephen Keshi is certainly not one to put all his eggs in one basket.

And despite getting the recommendation of the NFF technical committee to continue in his position with the Super Eagles, the Delta State born tactician had been named among the list of top coaches, who applied for the job of handling the Burkina Faso national football team.

Burkinabe Federation’s President, Colonel Sita Sangaré confirmed that several well-known coaches had applied for the vacant national head coach position, including Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi, Congo boss, Claude Le Roy and former Senegal coach, Alain Giresse.

FBF is looking for a replacement for former Stallions manager Paul Put, who was fired in the aftermaths of Burkina Faso first round exit at the Africa Cup of Nations Equatorial Guinea 2015.

The 2013 AFCON runners-up only managed a single point in their Group A, losing 0-2 to Gabon before securing a goalless draw against Equatorial Guinea and suffering another 1-2 defeat to Congo.

Sita Sangaré added that a 3-candidate shortlist would be announced on Monday, 16 February, with a final decision to be taken within the next three weeks.

Former France coach Jacques Santini and former Gabon and Niger boss Gernot Rohr also joined the race.
