Big Brother Hotshots: Kenya is Out as Alusa & Tanzania’s Laveda Get Evicted!

Big Brother Hotshots Eviction - Bellanaija - October2014005
Kenya’s Alusa became the first male housemate to be evicted from Big Brother Hotshots on Sunday, and the 7th housemate altogether. When Tanzania’s Lavedawas evicted earlier in the evening, she continued the ladies’ losing streak, becoming the 6th consecutive woman to be evicted on the back of Africa’s votes. Alusa broke that streak, but his departure also means that there are no more Kenyan housemates left to compete for the USD300 000 prize, after his compatriot Sabina left last week.

It looks like the housemates are slowly withering down to the last man or woman standing
IK Osakioduwa kicked off the show on a serious note, showing viewers howSamantha and M’am Bea had picked up their first ‘strikes’ for contravening Big Brother’s conspiracy rule. They had spoken about their nomination choices earlier in the week, and Big Brother called all the housemates together to remind them of the rules. That sobering moment capped a tough week for the housemates, after they’d also lost their 100% wager – their first failure so far.

Once auditors SizweNtsalubaGobodo had delivered the verified votes to IK, he told viewers that the tie-breaker rule was once again going to have to come into play, as there was a tie in the country votes. Heading into the house, he first asked Head of House Nhlanhla to reveal his ‘add’ decision before revealing the results. The South African told IK that he’d based his decision on the housemates’ performance in the Head of House Qualifier task. He felt that Macky2 had put in the least effort because he was confident in himself and his status in the game, so he’d named the Zambian as his ‘add’ choice.
After sending the nominated housemates to safety, one by one, JJ and Laveda were left standing. IK revealed that the Tanzanian’s time in the Big Brother house was up and asked her to say her goodbyes. When she joined him on stage, he quizzed her about relationships in the house – specifically around her interest in Permithias. “It’s been three weeks – it’s just a mystery,” she said, giving nothing away. She said that perhaps the housemates had expected her to be different and had struggled to come to terms with the way she really was.

The drama wasn’t over, though, as Big Brother told IK that another housemate needed to be evicted. Heading back into the house, IK asked the remaining 6 nominated housemates to stand. He didn’t leave them hanging on for long, telling Alusa to leave the house almost right away. Out on stage, the Kenyan was upbeat, but said he didn’t really know why he’d been evicted. “Maybe the fans thought they’d seen enough of me,” he said after IK offered his presence as an ‘Emerald housemate’ from last season as a possible reason. Speaking about his verbal scuffle with Tayo, he said he’d simply been standing up for his friend JJ.

When IK went back into the house for a third time, the housemates must have feared the worst – but he quickly put them at ease, telling them he was ‘only’ there to reveal the results of the Extravaganza task. After a quick recap, he revealed that Forest Fantasy had picked up the most viewer votes after their Pantomime performance and would be immune from nomination this week.

Namibian Hip Hop star KK rocked the Big Brother stage twice during the live show, performing both ‘Katutura Kid’ and ‘Heavy’. IK also revealed the winner of this week’s StarMeter challenge, which measures the popularity of the housemates, based on social media buzz. Tayo took his second consecutive win, with the buzz indicating that viewers thought he was the sexiest housemate. The question for the coming week is ‘Which Big Brother Hotshot is the most sneaky?’, with both positive and negative sentiments being measured.
Nominations again took place immediately after the Eviction show, but the housemates will only discover their fate during Monday’s Nomination show (20:00 CAT on AfricaMagic Showcase & Maisha Magic and 21:30 CAT on AfricaMagic Family, AfricaMagic World on GOtv).

ART– AN EYE INTO ANOTHER WORLD

For some reason, I have always been a fan of the arts. The ability to create something from nothing, the ability to bring to life what was once but only a figment of one’s imagination to me, is to dare to rival the gods, if you believe in them. I consider the artist to be a gift to man to constantly remind him that he is possible of anything! This piece is more of a show than tell as I am certain that it would not be proper to write an article on art and tell more words than I show works. I have therefore had to steal from a friend, a classmate and most of all, a talented artist as I, myself, am not so gifted as to put up my works for display but still, I shall humour you eventually with my rendition of a popular cartoon that you may recognise if you grew up watching ‘Looney Tones’. Nevertheless, gift is not a necessity to appreciate beauty and the plethora of magna opera (The many great works). Mr Joshua Zirigbe (9β) is a Nigerian from Delta State and he has given us the opportunit...

THE FIRE ON 23 ROAD – FESTAC, LAGOS

A fire outbreak occured on 23 Road in Festac on Saturday the 14th, February, 2015 which is the popular Valentine's day. Jouleconcept's correspondent, Mr Juwah Awele covered the story and gave a report in form of an article about the occurrence. This can be read below: “There is fire in house 2! There were children locked inside the house…” those were the words of my elderly neighbour, Mrs A, returning from the scene of some ongoing tragedy. Immediately, my mother went for all our official documents she always keeps in a ready to go bag while, my father, brother and I set off in the direction of the blaze. On getting to the front of the close, T Close, we observed the residents of the first few houses on the left hastily withdrawing their belongings from their homes; stuffing generators, plasma TVs, gas cylinders and the works into the back seat of their cars. Some had already driven their cars away! Immediately, we realised the fire was coming from the next cl...
