President Goodluck Jonathan has carried out minor cabinet reshuffle, moving the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Professor Viola Onwuliri, to the Ministry of Education as Minister of State in the stead of Nyesom Wike, who resigned on Monday.

Apart from Onwuliri, who was moved to the Education Ministry, the rest of her colleagues are to either oversee another ministry or fully take charge, combining their duties with that of the minister of state.

The minor adjustments were sequel to the resignation of seven ministers, who had gubernatorial ambition in their various states. The Minister of State II, Nurudeen Mohammed, is now overseeing the Ministry of Information, held previously by Labaran Maku.

The Minister of Niger  Delta, Stephen Oru, will be in charge of the entire ministry following Dairus Ishaku’s resignation.

The Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), is to oversee the Ministry of Labour formerly headed by Emeka Wogu. The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Khaliru Al-Hassan, is to oversee the ministry previously headed by Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, while Olusegun Aganga is to take full charge of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment following the resignation of Samuel Ortom, the erstwhile minister of state for the ministry.

The Minister of Defence, Aliyu Gusau will now be in charge of the entire Ministry of Defence following the resignation of the Minister of State, Musiliu Obanikoro.

The overseeing Minister of Information, Mohammed, announced the changes to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting presided by President Jonathan.
