A Cambodian unlicensed doctor, who infected 140 patients with HIV by reusing needles and syringes, has been charged with murder. On 9 December, authorities detected a mass HIV epidemic, after they started tests in a community in Battambang province and found that children as young as two and people in their 80s had contracted the virus. The rice farming community of Roka in northwestern Cambodia has so far seen 140 people test positive for the deadly virus in the past month, an Al Jazeera report notes. The authorities were alerted about a possible mass HIV epidemic in the village after a 74-year-old man tested positive in November and started convincing others who had also visited the same practitioner to get tested. A new tariff structure for electricity in Nigeria will kick off today. The new tariff which has been approved by the Federal Government  will make Nigerians pay more for electricity use. Daily Trust reports that consumers should expect major rise by June 2015 when the N213billion power stabilisation loan would have been included in the tariff structure. Nigerian dancer, Kaffiat Oluwatoyin Shafau-Ameh better known as Kaffy, has disclosed that she might consider retiring from performing on stage soon, but would continue to do business. According to her, she is still fit to run her business until it gets to a level it can be run on its own with little or no supervision. Kaffy noted that she wants to leave a legacy behind in the Nigerian music industry, which people could be proud of when she is no more. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's lethal injection protocol is constitutional and the state can proceed with the scheduled executions of four death row inmates early next year, a federal judge ruled on Monday. U.S. District Judge Stephen Friot denied a request for a preliminary injunction that was requested by a group of Oklahoma death row inmates. The prisoners argued the use of the sedative midazolam as the first drug in a three-drug combination the state administers risks subjecting them to unconstitutionally cruel and unusual punishment. After the ruling, Department of Corrections Director Robert Patton said the state planned to move forward with the execution of Charles Frederick Warner on Jan. 15 and three other lethal injections scheduled through March 5. "We will now proceed with the guidelines set forth in the policy and protocol in preparation for the upcoming executions," Patton said. The Yankees, through their Silver Shield Foundation, will pay for the education of Ramos' two children. He left behind a college-aged son and a 13-year-old named Jaden, who gained attention for mourning his father on Facebook. The other officer killed, Wenjian Liu, didn't have children, or else the Silver Shield Foundation would have helped them too. The foundation has been doing this kind of work since 1982, when it was founded by ex-Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. A family of seven members was burnt to death in a mysterious inferno that engulfed their home at Ayankor, Gboko East, Benue state. The tragedy happened at the early hours of Friday, Vanguard reports. According to an eyewitness, the fire which started at about 1 am engulfed the block of three flats, killing a man and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lawani Oye and their five children. The father of the family was said to be a popular automobile panel beater in Gboko while his wife was a known business woman in the neighborhood.
