Mysterious Inferno in Benue State Burns The Family Of 7

A family of seven members was burnt to death in a mysterious inferno that engulfed their home at Ayankor, Gboko East, Benue state. The tragedy happened at the early hours of Friday, Vanguard reports.

According to an eyewitness, the fire which started at about 1 am engulfed the block of three flats, killing a man and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lawani Oye and their five children.

The father of the family was said to be a popular automobile panel beater in Gboko while his wife was a known business woman in the neighborhood.

According to the anonymous eyewitness, the fire started when everyone had gone asleep. It razed the entire block of flats, but fortunately, other occupants of the building managed to escape and save their lives.

“It was his wife and mother of the dead children who we popularly call Mama Tunde, who raised the alarm that prompted other neighbours to rush out of their flats and after failing to fight the strange fire however managed to escape.”

“Our pain about this tragic and unfortunate incident is that the same woman who died with her family in the fire was the one who raised the alarm that saved others. They were burnt beyond recognition.”

The cause of the inferno is still a mystery to neighbors. But the only clue they have is that their generator was on that night. By the time they went round after the fire, they saw that a lantern was placed very close to the generating set.

It would be recalled that earlier this year a mysterious fire burned down 164 houses in Bauchi state.  Luckily, no life was lost.

THE FIRE ON 23 ROAD – FESTAC, LAGOS

A fire outbreak occured on 23 Road in Festac on Saturday the 14th, February, 2015 which is the popular Valentine's day. Jouleconcept's correspondent, Mr Juwah Awele covered the story and gave a report in form of an article about the occurrence. This can be read below: “There is fire in house 2! There were children locked inside the house…” those were the words of my elderly neighbour, Mrs A, returning from the scene of some ongoing tragedy. Immediately, my mother went for all our official documents she always keeps in a ready to go bag while, my father, brother and I set off in the direction of the blaze. On getting to the front of the close, T Close, we observed the residents of the first few houses on the left hastily withdrawing their belongings from their homes; stuffing generators, plasma TVs, gas cylinders and the works into the back seat of their cars. Some had already driven their cars away! Immediately, we realised the fire was coming from the next cl
